Destin, Florida - Snowbird RV location????
Can anyone recommend a nice, reasonable RV park on or near the Gulf for a one month stay during the month of February or March in or near Destin, Florida? One that won't break the bank? What kind of temperatures can we expect at that time?

There are a couple of State Parks in that area that are excellent and reasonable, Topsail Preserve and Greyton Beach. Maximum stay is 14 days. If you are ex- military there is a campground on the bay that is nice.
Temperatures should be moderate, 40s - 60s in February and 5-10 degrees warmer in March.
Have not stayed at any private campgrounds in the area, so I can not comment. Suggest you try RV Park Reviews.

Henderson beach state park is another one that's really nice. Gotta book ahead though.

Back before we retired we might spend a week in the panhandle in February as part of our vacation. Sometimes we'd be lucky and get highs in the 60s, one vacation was brutal, however, with highs that never got out of the 40s and high winds. That was our last winter stay in the panhandle. Couldn't stand to walk on the beach or even more sheltered park trails.
You take your chances staying in the panhandle in winter.

Now I'm worried about temperatures! We're not looking for temps in the 80's every day. We just want to escape the COLD Michigan weather. If it's sunny and in the 60's, that fine with us!!

We stayed at Twin Oaks in Freeport FL. Right on the bay, nice and clean. Easy access to all areas of Destin, Ft. Walton, and Grayton (sp) State park for day trips to the beach.
All the sites looked pretty new with all hookups 50A and sewer.

We spent a couple of January weeks near Lafayette, LA and couple of years ago and it's about the same latitude as the FL panhandle. This is the comment from my blog - "While not as warm as we’ve seen in south Florida, it was still pretty nice with more warm than cool days and definitely warmer than at home." Most days did not require a jacket and we thought it was generally pretty nice. This year we are spending some January time in Emerald Beach RV Park and not concerned about the weather.

For military and ex-military the park in Destin is a little tight for large rigs. There is a Fam Camp at Eglin AFB and a new Fam Camp at Hurlburt AFB. Both are close by to Destin.

Move Westward. Ft. Pickens National Seashore campground. Beach is a short walk or drive and you can stay two weeks, then find another location for another two weeks. NO sewer however, just a dump station.
There is a Fam camp on Sherman Field NAS, that is on the bay, but do not know anything about it.
As noted the FL panhandle is still pretty cold at that time of the year. I had a friend who had a condo near Destin, he finally sold it and bought one down south in the Naples area, all due to the panhandle temps in winter.
