Emergency trip with no reservations
We have a special situation that has arisen. We are looking for suggestions for how to handle it.
We live in Georgia and need to go to Texas for a family issue. We anticipate being there at least a month. The problem is that we have no reservations at any rv parks. We think it advisable to take our mh.
Suggestions please because we are new to rv'ing!!!!

October is not a high travel time like during the summer. You won't have any problems.

shouldn't have any problems unless something special is happening...fall festival, college football, etc. we traveled 2100-mi each way between our home in Illinois and San Jose CA and had no trouble finding spots in our first-choice parks. we went out in May and returned in August. start calling now.

Absolutely take the RV.
Overnights while on the road can be most anywhere - Walmart, any other big box store, truck stop. I've even rolled into a church a few times. Wouldn't put out slides & setup a BBQ!
While in transit call around for reservations at final destination. Use https://www.rvparky.com/ rvtripwizard and Google to find reservations.
Most important hope the family issue turns out to be small or easily resolved.

I travel from Colorado to Florida twice a year and it takes me about 2 weeks each way, wandering my way down and back seeing the sights. I usually stay at rest stops , truck stops Walmart's Lowes lots, casino's etc. Only campground is in Florida for a couple of days to dump and refill.
Been doing this for 15 years plus with no issues.

Take the rv. A situation like that makes us glad we have ours. It’s not just used for pleasure, but also for emergencies and travel convenience.

Besides rv parks, consider state parks, municipal CGs, Corps of Engineers CGs, etc. You may have to move around a bit, but you should be able to find sites okay. Big holidays might present the worst challenges (Thanksgiving weekend, Christmastime).

This time of year you shouldn't have a problem finding places to stay. Like said, Wally Marts, truck stops should get you to where you need to be. Traveling with a full fresh water tank opens up a lot of possibilities, you really don't need hookups all the time. If you belong to the Elks, consider them for possible stop.
Call for reservations at your final destination just to make sure of a place to stay

Yes, as Arch asked; where in Texas? Some forum members live in TX and it may help to know where you want to end up in Texas.
Thanks,

We just got back to Louisiana from a 2 week spur of the moment trip to New Mexico, no problems getting a place to stop for the night anywhere in Texas. Only issue was being limited to 3 nights at one location in the Texas Hill Country where we were planning to stay 3-4 night due to a Jeep rally in town that weekend.
