EMPTY RV parks

Last week, We stayed a few nights in an established private park. 40 FHU sites. A dozen tent sites and 10 cabins.

We were the only patrons during our stay: ONE slot filled and over 60 available.

Apparently the RV boom has not hit that locale.

(It was not a dive by any stretch, but a seasonal type site and the summer crowd literally has not yet shown up)

We are in the Salinas California Elks Lodge RV Park that has about 25 sites. Two other RV's are here tonight...Friday.

I was here four weeks ago and I was the only RV in the park.

Just returned from a month long trip from Illinois to California via SW (AZ, NM, KS,etc). Hit Arches, Zion, and some other major NP areas. Currently in KY at Whispering Hills RV Park for the Horsey Hundred. Everything was packed except one overnight WallyWorld Boondock. There, I was one of three. No semis.

I have a spot in a seasonal site. He also has about 20 weekend RV spots and another 20 tent camping.

He is reserved full every weekend until Labor Day save 2 spots that he keeps open for family members of the seasonal campers. And if they are not filled by Wednesday he fills them too.

Whispering Hills is a very nice park, we have stayed there a couple of times and we have friends that have a seasonal in there.

In both Wisconsin and New York, all reservable state park campsites are booked on weekends and holidays until the end of August. Week days are available. Forest Service campgrounds are the same, but have many first come, first serve sites.

In Gordonsville, VA - for weeks leading up to this Memorial Day weekend the park was maybe 25% filled. Now it is packed!

Yeah, we ran into that too.

April 21st, Laramie WY KOA. Daytime high was 29 F with freezing fog, nighttime low was a balmy 12. Other than some permanent folks we were the only ones there. Burned 1/3 a tank of propane in 48 hours...

Most parks (west coast) have been full or nearly so since. Blackwell Island in Coeur d’Alene was 3/4 until last night. Chock full up now!

Regards,

Randy

It would be nice to know where this was, otherwise it does us no good.
