Estes Park & Breckenridge - September 2019.

The DW and I plan to wander around Wyoming in August; no particular plans, just wander making plans a week or two in advance. Then we were thinking of Colorado in September to catch the aspen tree change of color. The first 2 weeks in Estes Park and the next 2 weeks in Breckenridge.

So 2 questions:
1) Will it be too cold in Estes Park and Breckenridge? We're not great cold weather people, but as long as it warms up in the afternoon we're OK. I think if we saw bad weather coming (snow, multiple days in the 50's) we'd just move on.

2) Do you think we'll need reservations? We're thinking by September most folks are gone and things loosen up a bit as far as open sites.

We'll probably choose to stay at Spruce Lake RV Resort in Estes Park, and (of course) Tiger Run in Breck.

The thing about the mountains and especially Colorado and that area, is that although there are periods of significant snow, there are also periods of very nice weather at all times of the year.

For September in that area, even 50s are pretty nice because the sun will be out. I don't think you will be too cold. In September the average high is 63, but what that actually means is a few days in the 40s with snow in the air and maybe on the ground, followed by mostly days in the high 60s and low 70s even with nice sun shine. Even on days when it snows the sun will probably come out as well.

As far as availability I don't think you'll have too many problems but definitely try and make reservations in advance because right now they are booked pretty solid it looks like.

Sept to early Oct are prime times in the Colorado Mountains as the aspen are turning. You will probably need reservations in Breckenridge. Look at Tiger Run resort there.

Weather will be GREAT.

Crowds will be BIG in Estes - Rut. so you will need reservation

Run on up to Leadville and Buena Vista and catch the Aspen in the Collegiates - Bigger and Better - Independence Pass for a drive and Cottonwood Pass along with RT 24 to Minturn-----shoot not a bad drive out there above 8,000 feet in late September.

No wrong Choices - just some that are outstanding .

Enjoy it - every minute,

Well.... I guess I'm going to have to rethink my plans. I appreciate the input.
