Fall colors on the East Coast

We are planning on an East cost trip next fall. Our first destination is Prince Albert island and then heading south to see the fall colors. What would be a good time to arrive in the northeast?

Well, that may not be determinable until next Fall! The peak colors (if the weather permits) will start in northern Maine in mid to late September. Then move south usually reaching the southern New England coast in mid to late October. But, all that depends on a number of factors like rainfall and temps.

We drove through Ohio, PA, NJ and Long Island this October and hit the colors nearly perfectly. Like already said, they vary a little every year.

Thanks, we know it is variable and once there we can play with our schedule to Mother Nature. Just did not want to plan to late (October here).

Just watch the weather up north during the summer. A warm/wet year color's will begin in early Oct, dry/cold summer and the season will begin early Sept. The nice thing about having a RV is if bad weather moves in then just leave.
Don't over look Mich/Wis for a alternate color tour.

Also be aware, depending on your camping style, most campgrounds in northern New England (Maine, NH, VT) close by Columbus Day, many by October 1.

Plan ahead and have reservations as appropriate because the ones that are open will be in high demand by fellow "leaf peepers".
