Sampson State Park
Watkins Glen State Park
Both parks are in great locations for visiting the Finger Lakes area. Haven't been back in that area for a few years, so I don't know whether either park has any full hook-ups or sites with water and electric.
Watkins Glen KOA is also a popular campground and very popular with race fans.
Campbell is a nice little private park just off the 86. Years ago, square dancers used to stop there on the weekends. I haven't been there in years, but I think it would be worth checking out.
Ferenbaugh is a larger private park with a good location and should be worth checking out.
Have a great trip! Do try to take in the Corning Glassworks if you haven't been there before, and enjoy the wineries!

You will not fit a 43 ft motorhome in Watkins Glen State park., believe me I’ve been thru that park and looked at every site. ( I live near it )
Sampson State Park will fit anything and any size. The reservations limit you to 40 ft but many sites will fit a 45ft.
Keuka State Park is really nice too, it can fit a 45ft too.
Most CG in the Finger Lakes are junk
Th only ones I recommend are
1.Watkins Glen/ Corning KOA which is expensive
2. Spruce Row in Trumansburg, average priced.
3. The Bath NY KOA was bought by the Watkins Glen KOA and still needs to be fixed, it will be better maybe in a yr or two.
4. Canandaguia KOA is very nice, good prices
Here is my video on Watkins Glen KOA

Spot on.
I'll add, tough to get reservations at both Sampson and Keuka because of boating people (like me lol). However being Late September early October you might luck out.

We are headed to Bath/Hammondsport KOA on the 9th. Never been, but supposedly there are some vineyards around and the Glenn isnt too far either.

Go to the Curtis Wright Museum, it’s an amazing little museum out in the middle of nowhere

We stayed 4 days at Clute Park & Campground in Watkins Glenn this summer and they have a few sites that will handle big rigs. It's a county park so not too expensive and very convenient to town. It was crowded because of the Italian American Festival. We spent a day at the Gorge and another day at Letchworth SP. We did not camp at Letchworth, but may do that on a future visit to the area. We stayed at Sampson SP a few years ago and its nice, but remote.

Just added Curtis Wright museum to the itinerary. Thanks for the heads up 2cyber71. Any other insight for things to do? We booked a few winery tours already. I know we might look at some waterfalls as well. We will be towing the CRV so we plan on exploring.

We've stayed at Clute a few times in our 43' MH. No problems. Nice central location . Walk to restaurants in town, Many wineries nearby.

Raceway events
https://www.theglen.com/schedule/
My son took my grandchildren ( 11 & 16 ) to the falls when we were at the Raceway for the NASCAR weekend this year. They really enjoyed walking the trails and behind the falls.
I'm not a fan of wine. Got sick on it in 1965 and haven't touched it since. Pretty country though.

We stayed at Taughannock Falls State Park last fall. There were quite a few 30-40 ft rigs there at the time. And its right in the middle of the wine trail country.

4 years ago, we had no issue parking a 40 ft 5er in the Finger Lakes area in private campgrounds. The state and Corp parks, are more of a problem due to length and power.
You will need to watch bridge and overpass clearances in the northeast especially it you are off major roads. We found one park while our sightseeing that the normal entrance had a limited clearance road to the entrance. The website indicated the problem and provided an alternate route without the height limits.
