Sorry for the late response. That is the Peninsula Point Lighthouse at the southern tip of the Stonington Peninsula, across the bay from Escanaba. I stayed in the Little Bay de Noc NF CG and chose to ride the ebike to the lighthouse & back, 27 miles round trip IIRC. I could have driven but I wanted to enjoy the scenery. Got passed by maybe ten cars in total, half of them going the opposite way; it's pretty quiet and off the beaten path.

You've sparked my curiosity regarding the tour gig opportunities. Sounds fun, and an area I really enjoy. I could see myself doing that.

You mentioned trying to get more nights at Fishing Bridge. There are always a few people changing their plans and dropping their reservations. I got two consecutive nights in Yosemite Valley (a few years ago) just a week or so before I wanted to leave home and head that way. Sometimes the disruptions hit people just before their reservation dates.

I don't know if you are aware that web services exist which will monitor a CG for new openings and will message you about the opening. I've not used one of those, but I have read of them.

Keep in mind that there are plenty of other places outside Yellowstone that could be enjoyable. You could drive to the top of Sawtell Peak near Island Park, ID and then head up around Quake Lake. Or explore the Thermopolis area east of the park. Or go south to the Tetons. Personally, I enjoy the mountain views more than the wildlife views, but that's just me. I still want to hike around the south end of Jenny Lake in Teton NP one of these days.

... just DO IT! You'll love giving tours if you love lighthouses.

All good tips, I will have to check into the CG monitoring.

We planned on coming into Yellowstone from Cody and then on into Fishing Bridge CG, Is the Beartooth HWy something we should consider and reroute our way in to the park from that direction instead of Cody?

After just looking at the Bear Tooth, maybe we shouldn’t do that towing a 30’ trailer

You could return on I90 hitting Theodore Roosevelt NP In N Dakota then cut across the UP in Michigan across the Mackinaw Bridge down through Lower Michigan and either hug the western shore of Michigan back to PA or go into Canada and then south to PA.

Sleeping Bear Dunes on the west shore of lower Michigan is a great area as well as the Traverse City area

I will definitely keep that route in mind for our return trip home. As a snowmobiler, I always wanted to see the UP of Michigan.

I am off from work today and had some free time. I started looking at Fishing Bridge CG at all available sites, I was able to grab a additional day there for us. Hopefully not a biggie, but in a different spot, so we will have to move one of our days there. That makes four day reserved at Fishing bridge, three days in one spot and one additional day another in another site.

I would NOT take the trailer over the Bear Tooth Highway. We had fun riding the Spyder with our friends, but I would not tow over it.

After looking closer at it, I am going to skip it, at least while we're towing a trailer.

The reservation system for Yellowstones Fishing Bridge CG shows a check out time by 11:00 and check in at 1:00. Can anyone give an idea of what it will look like for us to check out of one Fishing Bridge site at 11:00 & into another at 1:00? If the other spot we reserved opens at 11:00 can we slide into it being consecutive day campers in the same CG, just different spots? Or will we be in camper purgatory for 2 hours? Guess there worse places to kill 2 hours?

Moving to your second site depends on when the party leaves. He has until 1pm to do so. If he moves earlier.... sure you can move to your second site at that time. Double check with the campground office before automatically moving on your own.

When visiting a NP like Yellowstone “Or any NP” My understanding is there is an entrance fee. Do you purchase at the time of entry, or is it something I can purchase ahead of time?

Also, if camping outside the park multiple days, what’s the process for re-entry? Show a pass each day? Or?

Here's everything about National Park passes

The best thing is the America the Beautiful Senior Lifetime Pass - if you qualify.
