First trip of the season

Hey everybody, what do you like to do for your first outing of the season.

Do you like to take a short little weekend trip or a nice long outing of a couple weeks or more. My wife and I are having a long drawn out conversation going back and forth.

She would prefer a 3-4 day weekend trip, while I want to go on a long trip. We live in south eastern Ontario, 1000 Islands area so I'd like to go either east toNova Scotia, or go west to the Rockies.

A nice long trip and get the rust out of my body.

What do you guys normally do, give me some advice......we can't go across the border so it will be all Canada.

We normally do a 3 day trip at Easter with friends somewhere fairly local.

That way anyone with problems that have snuck up during the Winter can be checked out and fixed, or repaired when we or they get home.

Might be a problem this year with so many snowbirds that would normally still be down South using full hook-up sites. Also Easter is pretty early this year.

Here's hoping the border will open this Summer.

I like to do a short trip of about 2 to 3 hours from home to shake out any issues. If something breaks I can get it fixed fairly locally, and if nothing goes wrong I can have a nice weekend!

We are jumping right into a four month plus trip however the first few weeks will be spent going back & forth to a boatyard to take care of some slide & trailer brake issues & give the truck it's annual spa days at the local garage getting her insides all prettied up with new bushings & such for the coming year. She wants some new shoes too this year.

Seems like mosts like to do close to home to iron out any bugs from storage time being closer to home.

This year we are doing an 8 to 10 day round circle trip totalling altogether 12 to 13 hours actual RV drive time .

In the past 2019 and prior, we've done much longer trips of up to 4 months from Apr to Aug, and years ago during work/school time, our first trip annually was always from Alberta to Vegas during Easter vacation for 10 days typically (those road warrior fast trips are long behind us now thankfully!). Then lots of local weekenders and a 3 week summer trip somewhere on the West Coast and down.

Whatever yours and your wife's comfort levels and schedules allow will mandate how you roll.

Happy Travels.

We hit the road April 1 headed for Millinocket, ME where we’ll spend 5 months as workkampers at a beautiful CG close to the ME wilderness....

Weather permitting, we hope to arrive by May 7.....

It is hard to get DH to take a trip that is, let's go away for a few days. We always need a destination. Most years in the spring it is our tennis pilgrimage to Florida and Georgia. In 2019 it was a full out trip to California before working our way back to Florida. This year, alas, no spring tennis, so we are visiting family first then heading up to Hatteras for 2 weeks.

Our first trip is going to be a month on the Oregon coast. Coming up soon and getting excited. Did the last maintenance on the moho today and now just need to de-winterize and put water in the tank and food in the fridge!

I telework but the wife is a teacher. Typically we take off for the week of spring break the first week of April. We usually just travel 3-4 hours south where it is only slightly warmer, but the snow and mud is gone.

After that we spend a lot of time out in it. Sometimes weekends and sometimes weeks close to her school.

Once summer break hits we head wherever we want.
