I grew up in Florida but have lived most of my life in the West but my desire is to live the winters somewhere in Florida. I’m very familiar with the east side but am curious about the Destin area. I hear the beaches are spectacular. Anyone have any information on that area?

Thanks

Are you referring to beaverlybeach camping area?

You are packed into that camping area however having the ocean feet away makes it worthwhile. Without a doubt one of my favorite camping spots

I don't know, $150+ a night to be on the water in such cramped and primitive conditions. We were there last year for a look-see and, except for the location, were not at all impressed with the park and what your money gets you. We passed on staying there.

It’s worth it.... been going there my entire life and yes as I stated it’s a bit tight but there isn’t another place like it. When I was there a few years back it was approx $100 a nigh which was similar to what I paid in the keys.....

I'm sorry I didn't mention where at. We are at Gambler Rodgers recreation area. Going to extend and then head to the east bank campground up by Chattahoochee

Gamble Rogers is where we go too - when we can get a site.
It's a state park on the beach, so it's pretty well booked a year in advance.

Beverly Beach is too pricey and too close together for our liking. Either one we could deal with, but not both. Yes it's RIGHT on the beach, but not worth it to me.
Personally I'm surprised they haven't lowered their rates, any time I drive by it never seems to be more than half full, even the prime spots right up at the beach. To ME that's an indicator of being over priced - if you can't fill a prime location like that.

Terryshirley, are you on the beach side or the river side of the park?

River side would have been my guess, when you said you extended your stay. That's near impossible on the beach side.

You've likely already found it, but the Funky Pelican in Flagler Beach on the pier (north, turn left out of the park) is a good place for a meal, and you can't beat the view. It's an easy bike ride (excepting the wind) if you've got some with you.

You're also pretty close to Daytona Beach and all it has to offer, if you're up for a day trip.
Another day trip location could be St Augustine.

We live just about an hour from there, so we're around there a lot.
