Florida State Park Camping Closed from March 18th to May 15th

I just received an automated message that the Florida State Parks will be closing their campgrounds and overnight facilities from March 18 through May 15th. They will be canceling all existing reservations and automatically issuing refunds.

This will be extremely inconvenient for the scores of people who are already in the campgrounds and have no other place to go. As most people know, it's almost impossible to get into a FL State Park over the winter. That means that the campgrounds are FULL and thousands of folks will be on the move tomorrow, scrambling for accommodations throughout the southeast.

This only impacted us with reservations we had in April and early May. My heart goes out to all those campers who are staring down the gun barrel of limited options.

I'll refrain from expressing my opinion about the logic of this decision.

Yup, it's nuts, I just got off the phone with the Texas Army Corps of Engineers and the very nice lady said they are still open however call or go on line and check everyday she said, we have reservations starting on the 21st until the 15th at Texas State Parks. We live up in Northern Minnesota but we're down here as winter Texans in the RGV.. It seems that the only thing certain is uncertainty right now and be ready to change plans and then maybe change them again. Acceptance is that answer to all my problems it just takes me longer to get that more time than not.

All Canadians where given 10 days to get back to Canada. There are now hundreds of campsites becoming available around Florida.

Not 100% true. One couple I talked to today said they are good through end of Apr. It appears to be supplemental health care policy related and it must vary.

Correct, If They have a supplement health policy, they are covered in the States.

The Government plan wants them back in Canada.
