Four Jeffery

We spend 3 nights at Four Jeffery, 9/16 -9/18. The campground was really nice, has fresh water, flush restrooms, and a dump station. It is right on the south fork bishop creek. Sites along the creek have nice aspens, sites off the creek are like high desert, no trees, no shade. The forest had just opened up and when we got there one else was there except the camp host. By Sunday there were maybe 15 other campers. Highs around 70 and lows in the 30s. I got a good tip from another person that the weather there is pretty much the same as Mammoth. Sites are nicely spaced but many are not level enough for a TT or MH. Bishop is 12 miles and 3500' away. There is a general store just up the road and a pack station with a general store and a café. We did not shop in the store or eat at the café. We did go into the pack station store. We drove through the creek side RV park, which had full hook ups. It is not for me, spaces are too close and it was packed full. The FHU would have been nice but there was really no comparison between the sites.

Thanks Twogypsies. It might have helped if I spelled it right, like you did. Four Jeffrey not Four Jeffery. I'd correct it but time expired.

I should have added to the post that the drive in is steep but pretty straight. 9 miles of 5% grade and 2 miles of 8% to get to from Bishop to the turn off of 168. From the turn off to the campground is a mile or so of a steep grade. All nice big curves, no tight switchbacks. Also, there is a day use parking area between the campground and 168, maybe a half mile. We could park there and get 4G and cell service on t-mobile. There was a very weak signal at the campground, the phones actually said no service but sometime in the night a few text messages showed up.
