Heading here Sunday for a few days (work related). According to the Weather Channel it's supposed to be cooling off (lows ranging from 40's to 50's). I guess that's better than a heat wave!

How did you enjoy your visit to Georgia Veterans State Park this last April?

I had planned to stop there after a three night visit to F.D.Roosevelt S.P. qand Callaway Gardens, etc. We changed plans due to forcasted rainy weather. The attraction to me is Andersonville National Historic Site.

Did you go to the historic site? Is it worth a trip from the Metro Atlanta area?

We stopped there in January on our way to Florida, rally a nice park. Huge waterfront spaces and gorgeous landscapes with plenty of scenic beauty.

Your picture closed the deal!

We're leaving for GA Veterans S.P tomorrow. Expect to stay three nights visiting local attractions, ie. Museum, Andersonville and hopefully ride the excursion train.

Word is the pool is permenently closed but a swim at the beach may be great considering the temps expected this week.
Thanks for the picture>

There is a spring head right across from the CG where locals dive off trees into the water. you can see the water pouring up nicely. You have to go out of the park and get on the road across from the CG to get to the spring unless you have a boat. While I have never Played golf there, they have a real nice golf corse that is part of the park that you travel thru to get to the check-in station. If you come in after hours, they have vols at the CG to log you in. s/Toby
