Galena, IL this weekend

Last minute decision to go camping this weekend. We were supposed to stay in town, annual subdivision HOA picnic. Was supposed toi bring the Camaro to thier lil car show.

But I really need to get out of town for a couple days.
Hope the DW doesn't squash the idea when she remembers the subdivision party, but she's onboard for now.

We're going to the Palace Campground, in Galena, Illinios.

If Illinois has a cool place, it's the northwest corner. The glaciers somehow missed this area, and it's not smashed flat and covered in corn like the rest of Illinois.
Galena is a cool town too. started as a mining town, then became a vacation destination some hundred years ago. Very cool historic downtown, shops, resturants and antique stores. cool place.

Place is kinda "tight"... but ok. My big slide didn't hit the awning next to me.

We had a great dinner at "fried green tomatos" and watched a movie.

Galena certainly is a pretty little town- lots of great window shopping downtown.
