"You will need reservations to enter the park" Nope--- it's only for the turn off to Cadillac Mtn and the turnoff into Sand Beach. Both of those areas have limited and very crowded parking areas. The rest of the park is open, infact, much of the park is accessible via the public roads and not via the park loop road . We just spent a month there, as we do every summer, and found that the park was significantly less crowded than in years past.
