Golf Cart - Key West?

Sometime in the future, hoping to spend sometime at Boyd’s Campground on Stock Island.
I’ve read the requirements lights, windshield, insurance etc.
Does it need a license plate?
Can you drive on the Overseas Hwy over the Cow Bridge to Key West with a Golf Cart?
Be to Key West several times, but not in RV

Here is a link to the Florida Driver Handbook.

In short no I do not believe you can. Nor do you want to. With speed limits of 50-55 you will either be holding up traffic but you may be presenting yourself as an obstacle.

There are areas in certain neighborhoods or Key West you can.

I’m in Key West now. Golf carts cross between Stock island and Key West on US-1. All of them I e seen have FL license tags.

To be street legal need license, registration and insurance. our golf cart insurance is almost the same cost as our regular auto.

Yes, in KW , it needs to be licensed.... they are licensed as a LSV ( low speed vehicle) There are communities that have special ordinances that allow for unlicensed golf carts, like Sun City Center, The Villages, etc.
Yes, you can travel on US 1 over Cow Key Bridge into town. Heading the other way ( north) you can only go as far as the CVS

We stay at Boyd's every year and rent a golf cart from JG Scooter Rentals. They will deliver to Boyds. You can also rent through Boyd's if you like. We ride into KW alot during our stay. Good luck.

This is off topic, but I just bought a truck (toad) so we can travel with our golf cart in the bed. Anyone have experience with this? Should I remove the windshield and roof?

If the windshield folds down do it and wrap a bungee around it. Roof will be ok. Fold the mirrors back.
