Grand canyon

Breaking camp in an hour and headed to grand canyon. We left charleston sc last Friday and we are in silver city new Mexico right now. We have about an 8 hour drive to the grand canyon, this is my first visit ever to the canyon should be fun.

Oh, you'll have a great time at the canyon. Just be prepaired for some great viewing. We've been about seven times and everytime I walk up to one of the vistas to look out I just say to myself "that's not really there".
It is amazing. If you're there for a while be sure to catch a sunrise and sunset for sure.

We were there last week( its still there ). It was our third visit and still awed us. You will be at 7000 feet elevation and that can take some time to get used to in case you didn't know. Drink plenty of water and walk slower than usual. The park no longer sells water in plastic bottles but you can bring them in. They installed water stations at various places that you can fill up your own containers. We also go to the welcome centers at all the parks and see the movie to learn about what happened here. Enjoy this wonderful place.

Going in September, can't wait! I was there once 40 years ago, my wife has never seen it except from 30,000 feet. We're going for our 35th anniversary, fuel prices be damned!

We're going in a couple of weeks! I can't wait! I've flown over *many* times (airline brat), but never got to actually go in person - so I can't wait to take my dh and two kids to see it!!!
