Grand Canyon April 2022

We are thinking of going to the Grand Canyon the second week of April 2022, then on to Moab and Arches. Our understanding is that spring break occurs during the first week of April. The weather looks like it is usually 50 and 60 during the day. Also hoping that the crowds will be a little less. Any experiences?

Moab is busy April and May. Lots of Jeeps. I was there mid April in 2021. And have a reservation for April 2022. The park I stayed in this year is increasing there nightly rate to $80/ nite, for a 2 week space. No discount by the week. They may be sold out. I seem to recall a car show was scheduled for April.

Spring Break isn't just one week. People come from all over the country with varied spring break times.

As stated above, April and May are busy times for Grand Canyon and Moab. Moab has a lot of planned activities/rallies during this time.

None of the national parks have low attendance times any more. They're all busy year-round.

I'd recommend you make reservations ASAP for both. You'll have crowds, for sure.

Also, after January check out the national park's official web sites (nps) on the parks to see about any restrictions.

Moab now has timed entries so you can't just drive in whenever you want. Things may change by next year so keep checking. Good luck!

We are going to those same places in October, kinda opposite off season as you, only a group of 5 rigs. We are mixing rv parks and boondocking, and we had a hard time getting some reservations 5 months ahead of time.

We arrived at the Grand Canyon April 26, 2017 and spent three nights in Williams. For whatís itís worth, the man working in a coffee shop at the south rim told us we picked the best week of the year to visit! He said the place was a madhouse the previous weeks in April and then the summer crowds start. Honestly, it was not busy at all.

We did Grand Canyon, Zion, and Moab and more this past April. Weather was beautiful. Crowds were not bad at all except for Arches. Arches was the only place that was really busy to where we had to circle around a few of the parking lots looking for a place to park.

Impossible to predict crowds. Say no the the south rim, Go to the north rim. So much better. Only 5% of GC visitors go o the north rim.

We were in the Grand Canyon South Rim last April for a week and it was cold and it even snowed one day, so be prepared. Unfortunately, April and May are the busiest times of the year for Moab. When we go to the Moab area we go to Canyonlands (Beautiful! Better than the Grand Canyon IMO) in the morning and it's easy to get in. Going to Arches isn't as easy. We usually wait until 3:00PM - 4:00PM before going to Arches or the line to get in is a 2-3 hour wait. It works out though because it doesn't get dark until 9:00PM so you have plenty of time to hike and see the sites. It will still be very crowded inside the park though and parking will be difficult. I've also experienced rain, hail, sleet, and snow while visiting Moab in May. I don't want to discourage you from visiting my beautiful state, I just want you to be prepared for crowds and crazy weather if you come in April or May :-)
