Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park Colorado

My fall travels include a stop at Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park. My schedule is somewhat flexible. I can stay 3 days to a week. How much time do I need to enjoy the park without trying to do it all in a day?

I live in Colorado so I've been there many times. Unless you plan to do extensive climbing up the dunes I think a two night stay would be plenty. That would give you one day to stand at the base of the dunes and see how high and steep they are, and another half a day to go to a pretty waterfall that's nearby.

Two nights are sufficient unless you want to climb the dunes.

We stopped there for the Grands this Summer - Was Crowded and Hot - For me and for them a few hours was more than enough.

I'm a Rocks Guy (Mountains) so it did/does little for me, along with having been a couple times before, the Ranger Story was interesting as to how they formed, but we've lived at the beach and the sand, is well the Sand no matter how and what, so one easy slow day with two nights should more than fill your Plate.

Put those extra days into Buena Vista or other Mountain areas, JMHO.

White Sands National Monument in NM is more impressive in my opinion.
