Greenville, North Carolina
We're planning a trip to Greenville this Thanksgiving. Has anyone stayed in an RV Campground in that area?

I'm interested in the responses here, because we are taking the RV to Greenville next month to visit our son and his family. I've searched and searched, but RV parks are scarce in Greenville. I really don't understand that, with Greenville being a major university town.
We're planning to stay at Tranter's Creek RV Park in Washington. We have driven through Whispering Oaks RV Resort in Greenville, but the wife didn't like it because it's out in the country, not near any stores or shopping areas (that would suit me just fine, but not her!). There's also a park (Twin Lakes) in Chocowinity.
If you find a "hidden gem" please let us know! Have fun traveling!

We stayed in the KOA in Traveler's Rest, just north of Greenville. It was nice with lots of shade. I think its the best place near Greenville.

I live near Washington NC and you have found all parks near Greenville. Tranters Creek is in the community where I grew up. You would be about 20 miles to Greenville and about 5 miles to WalMart.

We stayed at the Travelers Rest KOA this past Monday and Tuesday
This is not your fathers KOA. One of the nicest I have stayed at. the sites are huge in KOA terms. Lots of shade and set in a large area of trees. the bath house is relatively new as is the pool. With SC heat you will enjoy the pool.
I met the owners and found out that this has only been a KOA for about 11 years. Before that it was a private campground. You can usually meet them by the pool late in the evening.
One word of caution is how you get there. Rt 25 is a divided highway and if you are traveling south you will have to make a u-turn after passing the KOA on your left. There is a store about 1/4 mile past the KOA with a gravel lot and I needed all of that with my 29' Winnie and toad to make the turn. I you are coming from the South no u-turn is needed. There were half a dozen 40' motor coaches with toads there so they made it as well.
We stayed in space 36, pull through. One 1.5" leveling block under each front wheel had us dead level.
Hope you stay and report how you liked it.
We really only had one day there but took our grandson on a white water trip (class 1-2) and had a blast, although my arms were feeling it the next day on our drive to Edisto Beach State Park.
Enjoy your trip
