I am interested in finding reasonably priced campgrounds midway down the Gulf side of Florida. It would be for a month stay from mid-Jan. through mid-Feb. We need to be somewhat frugal as we will be just starting as fulltimers this fall and don't know how far our money will go.

mkminewine, welcome to iRV2.com. This time frame is one of the busiest months in Florida as many spend the winter there to get out of the cold country. You will need to call for vacancies. Most will be booked espeially near the coast. Inland will provide a better change and cost less.

Morning, RV Wizard is absolutely right. The gulf coast area is very busy, with few vacancies during that time frame. I too tried that idea one year. It's okay maybe, if you only want to stay a day or a few days in any one campground. Most campgrounds are full to capacity with only sporatic vacancies. The inland area is less expensive and are booked heavily in that time frame, but you will have more success in finding cg with vacanies.

Only you can determine what reasonable price is. Here are some suggestions:

Rock Crusher Canyon, Crystal River, 877-722-2696

Turtle Creek, Homosassa, 800-471-3722

Nature Coast Landings, Crystal River, 352-447-2299[/list]Move a bit inland and try:
Little Willies, Arcadia, 863-494-2717

There are several campgrounds in the Port Richey area that are in the $400.00 range.
I think this is the price for a 3-4 month stay.
