we plan on staying in Haines (RV trip) during our trip to or from Alaska... anyone have any suggestions as to how long we may want to stay at the Hitch-up Rv Park? should be stay 7, 10, 14 days, or less? we won't stay in Skagway, already been there, done that. when is the best fishing?

Assume your planning next seasons trip to Alaska. At any rate, the Haines Hitch-up RV Park is a great little park, but how long you plan to stay DEPENDS on how much time you'd like to spend in the Haines area. We LOVED it in and around Haines.....bear viewing, eagles everywhere, spent day with John Schnable out at his Big Nugget mine, took day trip down to Juneau, fishing was fabulous, etc. etc. We think Haines is one of the best kept secrets of a trip to Alaska.....but....how much time you spend....well,.......up to you.

Like Chickadee stated...it just depends on what you want to do there - everyone has different interests. We stayed 5 nights but we didn't fish. It's a neat little town in a gorgeous setting. We enjoyed watching and chatting with the local high school youth who had a summer project of carving a totem. Here's a Haines site that might help you and it gives some fishing times. Have a great trip!
