Harvest Hosts vs RV Overnights
Just read about RV Overnights which appears to be in direct competition to Harvest Hosts. We have been HH members since its inception but feel as though it's gone downhill and now the owners are scooping up other businesses and turning into a conglomerate. RV Overnights appears to have the same terms at only $30 a year (free overnights - spend $30). Does anyone have any experience with RVO? Their website/app seems more user friendly and I am guessing that they both will have many of the same locations.

we tried Harvest Host, and being out West and doing most of our current traveling ( west of South Dakota). both are few and far between, there are so many other free spots out west to overnight.

$30 for dry camping in a parking lot? I don't think so. I will stick to Walmart where no one tracks my spending.

Haven't heard of them. Harvest hosts is still growing rapidly in terms of number of hosts. Almost doubled from when I first signed up not long ago. Now there is at least one almost everywhere I go.

The Walmart in Pleasanton CA. has signs up. No overnight parking.
Are all Walmart's changing policies. ??
Some [Mod Edit] must have done something stupid, ruined it for everyone.

Have heard of RVO, bit appears to be th same thing as HH, just a slight different and pricier spending recommendation. As another person has said, if you are west of the Mississippi - not a lot of options for those with class A's, especially if they are the large ones. RVO seems to be in the same case. However, we have been members of HH for several years now and have found it to be worthwhile expense. However, in the heat of summer, we opt for RV parks with FHU for A/C usage. Although, some HH locations are now starting to provide electrical access. Looking at the RVO website, I see no reason to leave HH for them, as there is no real difference.

Depends mostly on the community. A lot of them ban RV overnighting in parking lots. I've even seen places dump huge boulders in pulloff areas to discourage it.
I suspect two things are behind it - keeping the homeless rigs out, and pushing business to local parks.

Locally the WM put up those signs after the local campgrounds and RV parks put pressure on local (county governments) that WM was allowing free camping and taking their business away. We still see RVs parked there and during fall leaf season more than a summer day. They are on a main route to N Georgia mountains.

RV Overnights?
Happy Holidays everyone !
I have been seeing ads from RV Overnights and was just wondering if anyone has an opinion on their offered services ? Their membership is being offered @ $29.99 annually until 01/01/2025 then bumps to $49.99.
Apparently they partner with different Farms,Wineries,Distilleries, etc. Catch is you have to purchase something from the business.
TIA

Wonder how they compare to Harvests Hosts? It’s a great concept, and I love the opportunities. But the value will depend on how many participant businesses and their location.

This is very strange…. I became curious about RV Overnights since I am an active HH member and like the concept, and would be interested in expanding my resources, especially since they’re offering a $30 yearly membership with a lifetime fee lock. So I did some poking, since they provide access to their inventory prior to purchase, when HH does not.
Curious, I searched in my area, since I’m familiar with the HH’s that are near me. I noticed something very interesting and a bit disturbing.
The first listing I clicked on was for a farm near me whose name I did not recognize. I was impressed that they had 535 positive reviews. Scrolling down further I suddenly recognized the farm - a HH favorite of mine with a totally different name. The listing indicated they had been members of RV Overnights only a few months and had no stays and no reviews. So where did these 535 reviews come from and why was the name different from the actual business name?
I then used the RV Overnight website to check out another location near me - once again with a name I did not recognize. Clicking on the listing this one indicated it had 70 positive reviews. Once again - diving deeper, I recognized this winery as another favorite of mine with a different name, and read they too had been members of RV Overnights for a short time and had no stays and no reviews. So where did these 70 reviews come from?
Looking at the maps it appears that RV Overnights has a fairly impressive inventory of places to stay. But I’m a bit concerned and certainly confused by the information I just discovered.
Still, with the amount of stays I enjoy each year through Harvest Hosts the thought of increasing my options appeals to me, especially for a lifetime fee of $30/year. But if they are merely duplicating HH listings then there is no need.
Has anyone on this forum become a member of RV Overnights and actually used their services? I’m wondering if the host businesses are actually RV Overnight locations, or if RV Overnight has simply captured HH listings?
Curious minds definitely would like to know.

Souljourner has done some interesting research. Makes me wonder if RV Overnights is just a sophisticated scam or a real business? Anyone out there actually join RV Overnights and use it? Anyone actually talk to a host location?

I think you are misunderstanding the concept. The $30 is an annual fee to join, the dry camping is free. You are encouraged to spend some money patronizing the host business.
