We’re midway through our 3 weeks. 1 week at wahweap page lake Powell, 1 week at Hitch n Post Panguitch ( all the parks around Bryce) and heading tomorrow to Zion Gate RV . Always good to pre book. Take the stress away.

Might be chilly, bring layers, make sure the rental has everything you’ll need. Linens, towels, pillows, chairs for outdoors.Test the AC and heat before leaving rental place. You should be ok w/o reservations as long as their are no holidays ( Columbus Day etc) during your trip. I assume you won’t have a car, be careful in grocery store parking lots. Walmart’s are usually a good place to stock up on provisions. Consider Enterprise rental car and or Uber for excursions

I’d suggest reservations, we did same area in mid October. Points about possibly cold days are accurate, go prepared for that possibility.

Highly recommend Ruby’s at Bryce as great park and a main stop. We had tow vehicle to go to Zion for a day. Likely could take your remark RV or rent car a day from Ruby’s lobby.

Congratulations, you have a great adventure ahead!

My college room mate (from the late 60's) and his wife did something very similar last Spring. They flew to Vegas, rented a "C" from Cruise America and joined us at Lee's Ferry in Glen Canyon NRA outside Page (We drove out from NC). Cindy and I have always camped and we've spent time in the Four Corners area but our friends were rookies and had never been out west. Our plans were to see the Grand Canyon and the Mighty Five but a month was just not enough time - we missed Arches and Canyonlands. We just had too much fun at the places we did go.

Since you're new to this, I'd also suggest reservations. Zion, Watchman campground (electric hookups, no showers). Bryce, Kodachrome Basin State Park (electric at some sites, awesome showers). Capitol Reef, Fruita campground (no hookups, no showers). Canyonlands and Arches, you're veterans by now so try dry camping at the Horse Thief BLM campground off Hwy 313 between the two Parks (no water, pit toilets but clean) or Dead Horse Point State Park if you still need hugs.

We live here in central Utah and visit these parks very often. Some more often than others. I would pick 3 parks in 2 weeks. My favorite 2 are zion and moab. That time of the year is fantastic. In Zion we don’t like watchman camp. But we stay in virgin river rv resort. Its about 20 minutes from the gate.

In moab we have a few favorites sich as spanish trails or KOA (south) park.

I would make reservations myself as there often events in or near the parks. Specially in moab being a jeep and 4 x 4, biking park of fun.

In bryce we stay at red ruby inn and rv.
The weather should be very nice. As October is our favorite time for zion.
