Herkimer New York

We just finished a trip to Herkimer, New York. Stayed at the Herkimer Diamond KOA. Very well kept campground. Very polite and helpful employees. Bathrooms and showers very clean. Camp Store is well stocked. We stayed at site 67 which is on the Canada Creek. Tubing on the Creek low water and a lot of rocks. Directly across the street is the Herkimer Diamond Mine. We spent some time there mining for crystal. My DW was very exited as she found quite a few nice pieces. They are actually crystal not diamonds and apparently are famous for their healing qualities. While we were there a KOA pickup truck and fifth wheel trailer set up camp and appeared to be KOA inspectors. All in all it was a great trip. Walmart is about 9 miles away. I would recommend it. May go back as she now has mining fever.

I remember staying there as a kid 40 years ago! And ripping through what seems like tons of rock to find a diamond!
