Hilton Head & Charleston
We are planning a trip to Hilton Head and Charleston SC, in late May. Any suggestions for a nice park somewhere in between? If not suggestions for both locations will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert & Evelyn

James Island County Park Was great in Charleston, crazy fun dog park on the lake there.
Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort, was really nice I highly recommend.

We've not stayed at any commercial parks in the area, but enjoyed our stays at St. James Island, Edisto Bea h and Hunting Island State Parks.

There is a KOA at The Oaks at Point South off of I-95 & 17. It is about 1/2 way between Charleston and Savannha. It is about an hour drive to both places.
We are Thousand Trails members and stay at the Thousand Trails Park at the same road.

All state/county owned parks are nice if you can get in. From I-95 over to Hilton Head was being widened when I was there last and the traffic was horrendous before and during the construction. Just a word of caution if you go that way.

Have the trees lining the roads to James Island County Park been trimmed lately. Some years back I barely got my class A in because of trees. And JICP tress weren't trimmed and kept brushing my rig in the site I was in. Now, at 13'4" in a 5th wheel, I would never attempt to stay there. It is a nice place tho.

When we are at The Oaks at Point South, we head to Beaufort and take 170 over toward Hilton Head. Beautiful ride on the Spyder and you stay off of I-95.

Thanks to all. Took some time but finally got reservations at Creek Fire RV Resort in Savannah, Lake Aire RV Park in Charleston and Pride RV Resort in Waynesville, (outside of Asheville). Many parks already full. Book early.
Now need to determine best route from Asheville to FT. Worth. Might want to stop in Chattanoga. But, not fond of Alabama or Mississippi roads.
Thanks again,
Robert
