Hot Springs Arkansas

Ideas for a campground with a 40 ft Class A. We prefer NOT to stay " pack them in" campgrounds but rather with some space between sites, maybe some trees and such, and a campfire ring. Full hook ups would be great but we can get by with just S&W.

Ouachita State Park.

Probably spelled wrong but close. Some nice spots in this park on Lake Ouachita pronounced Washata.

We spent 5 days at Lake Catherine in late February, and we enjoyed it even then. Big sites, but some of them are very unlevel. We had to change the site we reserved because we could not get level even with blocks. Since the park was only partly full, even on a weekend, we had no trouble changing with the helpful park staff. It would be different in the summer. Also note that if you go to the park office with proof you are over 65, they will discount your site by half! They don’t advertise it widely, and it isn’t on the website where you can reserve.

We just reserved over the phone for mid June and the lady said they did not have a discount for over 65. Do you have to actually be there to get the amount taken off what you have already paid?

Secret hand shake?

Parts of Ouachita are closed due to high water. How about Gulpha Gulch? It is a very nice park but is walk in only no reservations.

Nope. DH has had white hair since he was 50, and the lady at the little store asked us if we qualified. Not Arkansas residents either.
