How Far South for Thanksgiving Week?

I was telling DW that it's time to winterize the MH, since we live just outside of Boston. Then she surprised me by saying she wants to take the rig out for the week of Thanksgiving.

I'm sure all of the New England campgrounds are closed by then. I know of one or two that stay open until the 15th, but that's it.

How far south would we need to go to find open campgrounds? Maybe something at the shore?

We have gone out Thanksgiving weekend 3 times in the last 10 years. All depends on the weather in NE. Ohio. Will go to a local state park...Have cooked our turkey over the fire....

Thanx Giving Pixs

All of the Georgia state parks are open year round except for one or two in the mountains. There are even a few COE parks that stay open year round.

Nice park and a fun city to tour. Grayline has a two day tour that is really good.

NC's OBX campgrounds are generally open year-round. Not certain about those the Park Service operate though. But it can be damned cold there with the wind at that time of year.

RV parks along the coast of Virginia (Williamsburg, Virginia Beach) stay open. Myrtle Beach, SC is a good option for lots of RV parks on the beach if you wanted to travel that far.

Now that's an idea. DW's sister and brother-in-law live in Bethesda. We could visit them for Thanksgiving.

Myrtle Beach is nice but we were just there a few weeks ago, and it's a long drive with the motorhome.

My wife and I are going with friends about 60 miles south of us on our maiden voyage. We are going to Renegades on the River. My friends say it is a great place.

I believe Aces High in Lyme CT is open year round, Gold Brook in VT, and Danforth Bay in New Hampshire.

Thank you! That's great info.

DW wants to go to Maryland for Thanksgiving week so we can have Thanksgiving with her sister & family. That would mean I need to winterize the motorhome and dump and clean the tanks on the way home. We could spend the night at Aces High and do all that in the morning before driving the last leg back to the South Shore.

Our MH lives in a storage facility since we don't have a nice suburban yard to store it in, so I can't do these things at home like many folks do.
