How to find places to dry camp

What's the best way/etiquette to find places to dry camp in an RV?

Look at the maps or visit the offices of BLM lands or national forests. Know the rules before setting up camp.

What are the areas you are wanting to dry camp? This would help folks to provide best answers.

We’re looking for some places in North Florida/South Georgia.

Would ideally find somewhere with a lake we can swim in and play with the dog in.

If you know the name of the national forest in the area, check out this site for campgrounds. Forest camping is mostly dry camping and many places are on water.

Here are a couple of links that you might find useful.
https://freecampsites.net/
https://www.allstays.com/

Be aware that even northern Florida lakes and rivers can have alligators. They consider small dogs to be especially tasty.

When IRMA hit, we hit the road. Everyone was scurrying so we had to be creative in finding boondocks.

Never got turned down at a church. Stop and ask the locals, espe the local policia, where you can land for a day or so. They will know. Any org like Lion's Club may have a large parking lot.

Note the use of Google Maps and Earth to find places that have been used before.

Use your imagination. If there is flat land, call about it.
