I've done it. A little hilly on the I-40 portion west of Asheville Ave over the mountains with some really long pulls. Plenty of others with toads on it. State line area between NC and TN has lots of curves, and a couple tunnels. Watch your brakes and you'll be ok.

I-95 is rough in spots. We just ran south from NC 74 to Jacksonville on 95. We went to Savanah from Yemassee, SC a couple of days and 95 north in that section was bumpy with several spots needing serious repair.

I-26 has a long pull up Saluda Mtn south of Hendersonville, NC after which there are no significant hills as I-40 follows the river through the Smokies rather than going over them although this section is curvy. I just get in the semi lane and ride with them.

There is some construction on 26 just before you get to Asheville. It's been that way for a few years but they are making progress. Not a big deal, just a few miles.

I think the i-26 and I-40 pulls are not too bad compared to I-95 in SC. Be careful on it as you can jar out some of your teeth fillings.
