Idaho Falls, ID to Dillon,MT

Looking for a full hook up camp ground between Idaho Falls & Dillon, MT. off Interstate 15. Tried doing a search but could not find anything other that dry camps. Would like to be near the half way point if possible. Trying to stay around 600 miles of driving per day. Will be coming up from Springdale (Zion N.P.) Idaho Falls is 519mi drive but Dillon is 660mi.

Wondering why you're putting in so many miles per day? If you're starting out at Springdale (Zion) and your destination is Dillon, MT, the midway point at 350 miles is is Bringham City, UT. There is Perry South KOA and Golden Spike RV there. Then it's only another 350 miles or so to Dillon, MT. Shorten your days, pull in early and relax. From Zion it's a long boring drive to Salt Lake City and then the traffic of the city, you'll be ready to stop in Bringham City!

From Zion, if you want to stop at Idaho Falls then you only have another 145 miles to Dillon. Why stop there or beyond? Split it up and you'll be more refreshed. Have a good trip.

There is a full service RV park on the south west corner of I-15 exit #59 (south exit into Dillon, MT) For a REAL TREAT go about 21 miles west from that intersection on hwy 287 then left about 4 miles to Bannack State Park. Bannack was the first territorial capital of MT. There are still about 50 buildings still standing. Nonresident dry (one H2O faucet, CLEAN pit toilet) camping is $23/day including entry into the town. We are going up there 5/28-6/1. The best thing about camping there is that there is NO security lights, if it is the dark of the moon when the sun goes down it gets DARK! The other thing is that even though you are only about 25 miles from Dillon there is NO cell phone, hard wired phone, off air antenna TV or off air radio reception (the rangers in the VC have a radio phone to Dillon for emergences)!

Then it is only a 25 mile drive (good dirt road) to Lehmi Pass where, after looking west at mountain range after mountain range Lewis and Clark decided that there was NO easy water route to the Pacific Ocean!

An interesting fact- One of the things that President Jefferson charged L&C with was to discover the head waters of the Missouri River. At the top Lehmi Pass (also a nice picnic area) there is a Spring and a Monument which says that L&C determined that “Farthermost Spring” is the head waters of the Missouri River. However, About 70 miles N/E of Dillon at the town of Three Forks where the Jefferson, Madison and Gallatin Rivers come together is considered to be the headwaters of the Missouri River for modern day folks and map makers!
