Ideas for Beach Camping Surfside Beach Texas

Son and I are headed down around Surfside Beach area of Texas in March. We would like to camp on the beach.
We are towing a 35 foot fifth wheel with an F250 Diesel 4x4.

We would just like a peaceful place with decent access. Not really wanting to have to be tractored in and out.

Good fishing would be a plus, nearby scuba dive shops would be great.

Please share with me any first hand experiences you may have in this area or on south to Port Aransas area.

Thanks...

The public beach at Port Aransas is easily accessible and hard packed, and people camp on the beach all year round. You will need a beach permit, available all over the place, including any local H.E.B.

*edit* Note that any beach in Texas will be covered in college students- literally- during spring break.

Oddly enough I posted this same question a few months back and had forgotten about it. At that time my wife and I were going to go....now it's my son and me.

Looking foreward to a good time

About 5 miles east are signs free beach camping. We were there Feb 1st with a class A with jeep. Good hard beach, three access points. Just a few campers when we were there.

The bays across the road from the free beach camping on Surfside offer good wade fishing.
