Inflatable Kayak
Does anyone use an inflatable Kayak? I am in the process of researching and purchasing one. I am looking for a tandem one.
Thanks

My brother in-law went thru about 6 to 8 of them in a couple of years they all ended up with leaks. He has moved on to conventional ones. But he did not buy the real high end inflatables. Its one of those you get what you pay for things.

We have this one and like it just fine

From our research I agree, the cheap ones are just that, cheap.
The better ones seem to start at around $700.

The absolute best inflatable kayaks are those made for whitewater. Most are self-bailing and are either Hypalon or a proprietary PVC. Doubles start around $1200. Northwest River Supply, Hyside and Aire seem to be the most popular. My Hyside single is ~20 years old and still regularly runs Class III & IV. These boats are stable, track very well and wear like iron.

This is the kayak we use. Have had it since 2015 and works very well for us.

Have a look at the Gumotex line, sold here as Innova. They're made in the Czech Republic, very nicely made and very tough. I have the Framura and it easily keeps up with my paddling friends' hardshells - not that we're racing. BTW when I bought it a few years ago I got the best price by buying it directly from Boatpark in Prague - even with the air shipping it was considerably cheaper than buying it through the importer, who rebrands it as an Innova and marks it up. I ordered on a Monday or Tuesday, forget which, and it got to San Diego that Friday.

I have two Advance Elements inflatable kayaks 10 years now. My double I bought 10 years ago $300 (+ $100 for two paddles), and my single I bought 4 years ago $300. Both were bought online at Austin Canoe & Kayak. Best money I ever spent.
