Information on isles off of Georgia

Hello:

Looking for campground suggestions for end of June in the Golden Isles (Tybee Island, Jekyll Island, etc). If there are campgrounds on the ocean that would be great, preferably with a pool (grandkids visiting).
Also, places of interest, good restaurants, etc. Traveling in a 35’ MH and towing a car. Appreciate any suggestions you can provide. Thank you.

We stayed at River's End on Tybee Island January 2017. It was a good place, not too far from the beach and good facilities.

Rivers End is the only campground on Tybee Island. I give it a B. The island is pretty nice and the beach is great. The campground is a place to park the RV with full hookups. It was originally a private campground but the city bought it so they would have enough land for a Federal grant. The city now runs it. The campground is between the water treatment plant and the police department. I highly recommend asking the front desk about renting a golf cart to get around the island.

Jekyll Island is a full hookup campground run by the state. It is about 8/10 of a mile from the water and located in the woods with very large unforgiving trees. The campsites are lined up like a commercial campground. When we were there, they were having a serious tick infestation. It's apparent that the state spends all their money on the convention center and has forgotten about the campground. I give Jekyll Island a B-.

That time of year, Jekyll will have serious bug problems. The State, in it's wisdom, has decided to charge each time you come onto the island. That is if you leave and go to Brunswick to eat, you get to pay again when you come back

A better CG *IMHO* is Blythe Island County CG. FHU, privacy and great staff. Call for reservations, they stay pretty full during tourist season.
