The camground is quite nice ... and there are lots of interesting things to see about horses ... we enjoyed it immensely

We spent a week's vacation in KY last summer & stayed at these 2 CG's that I would recommend (both w/fhu):
Cave Country RV Campground. Big-rig friendly & close to Mammoth Cave.
Elkhorn Campground. Small, family-owned campground with beautiful stream sites. Choose the perimeter sites which are roomier & well-shaded (some have wood patios), as opposed to the pull-thrus which are tighter & out in the open...unless, of course, you need clear overhead for satellite reception.

I've got reviews of both CG's w/photos on the website's Campgrounds section (if they ever get it up & running). In the meantime, you can check out my photos of those CG's on the website's Photos section - listed under my member name, pages 4-6.

If you're not opposed to KOA's, the Corbin KOA gets consistent high marks on rvparkreview's website. Although we haven't stayed there, we have scoped it out & it has sites set amongst tall trees & a new section of deluxe pull-thru's with stamped patios & patio furniture. A bit pricey, but quite comfortable sites for extended stays.

I couldn't agree more, what a nice Facility. If you have a golf cart, or some type of scooter, take it. You can go all over the place and see a lot of nice places. Well worth the stay. Good luck.

General Butler State Park, Carrollton
Grandmas RV Camping, Sheperdsville (Louisville Area)
Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington

These are all very different parks that cover the Northern area of the state. You will be pleased with all 3 unless it is very wet.

I will tell you one we will AVOID from now own. Miss Scarlett's Restaurand and RV park at exit 31 between Paducah and the lakes. Hacked out of rock, it was a brand new park when we came through there in 2007 for an overnite. The electrical was not wired right, apparently a loose ground or some such. We plugged in and did about 300 + dollars damage to the EMS in our coach. Ended up at a Winnebago dealer getting it reparied that fall back in Georgia.
Sites are small and steep with no room beside the coach on the concrete pad.
The food on the other hand ... yes!!!

I have to agree with ya there. Back in 2000, the place was decent having a $16 price for a fhu site. In 2006 We overnighted there on the way to the National Rally & the place had gone down hill. Best to avoid unless absolutely necessary (as in there's no WM parking lot around!).
