I do not spend more then a nite when we go cross country. I find out west at least that KO is consistently very average not a place i would want to spend more then one nite at a time is somewhere to stop and then go. I say that as we have been in some back east that i wouldn't wish on an enemy. I hold the KOA card and have for over 20 years. No they are not destinations but are good for overnite and I don't like to boondock

we are at the wapakoneta koa now. this is one nice place and the hosts debbie and john need to be commended on the way they run their park. this park is actually groomed to perfection, easy off and on I75. we stayed here on our trip to L.A. (lower alabama) from mi. it was so nice we had to stop on the way back home. please put this on your good koa list! jim

As with everyone else we stay at KOA overnite only if we have no other choice.
Now if we are going to stay in any area for a week or more we do call the KOA directly and ask for their weekly rate. You may be surprised how low their weekly rates are at some of them.
Just stayed at one at $164.00 50 amp w/s $150.00 30 amp w/s. Talking to the manager he told me to always ask for weekly rate, but do it by phone not on line.

I suppose I could have put in a little more information about the park. KOA looks very nice from the signs posted along I-12, it even looks very nice from the outside and the parks entrance. The first few rows of camping spots are very nice. As you go back into the park the roads are bad, gravel with large holes, and the spots are very cramped between RVs. I have contacted KOA about the conditions in this park but received no reply other than the parks are privately owned. I was very disappointed with KOA.

I would suggest you go to this link http://www.campgroundreviews.com/ and submit your comments. This will help others possibly avoid this CG.

Well after going to the http://www.campgroundreviews.com/ web site I'll have to take back my statements about the KOA. From the last few reviews it surely sounds like a lot of improvements have been made at this KOA. Next time in that area I'll have a drive through and check it out. Open mouth and insert foot.

I watch for trends like that on campgroundreviews.com. A sustained upswing in the rating numbers usually means a new owner has taken over & is working to improve conditions. However, that doesn't seem to be the case with KOA's. At least 2 campgrounds I used to frequent in WV became KOA's in the past year & all that got "upgraded" were the prices!

We have stayed in two KOAs in the past 13 years, and only because there was no other option at the time. Our main issue with them, other than price, is that they tend to attract families and lots of kids. No argument about family camping--it's great to still see families take kids camping. It's just that us old retired types like to have a turn in the pool occasionally without a dozen screaming kids splashing around. We appreciate the places that enforce reserved adult-only time. KOA is our option of last resort.

I guess I'm one of the few who likes KOA. We have a ValuCard, and so far have been satisfied. We've only stayed at one (in South Dakota) that we were displeased with - and that was a matter of the neighbors more than the park.

We also have Passport, and our results are mixed. The 2 night limit doesn't bother us, as we rarely stay in one place that long anyway.

We've been burned too many times at "no name" parks.
