Lake Buchanan - Big Chief

We've got a mid January trip here planned. There is a 50lb catfish waiting for me to come by. We're staying at Big Chief Park. Anyone have any info or tips for the area?

No specific info but it will probably be cold there in mid Jan.

Our home CG park is in Lake Conroe, TX and we've made friends with a guy who lives there. He holds 1st & 2nd place for the largest catfish caught in Lake Conroe. 87lbs. and 78lbs. respectively. He goes out in his boat and he KNOWS where to go and he uses live, small native fish as bait.

Have fun and show us pics if you catch any.

Tow has winery. Llano has Cooper BBQ. Burnet has interesting old town square and old train depot. Canyon of the Eagles. Lone Star Caverns. Enjoy.

Keep us informed!
I have been looking at this RV park. It is the closest one I can find to the Vanishing River Cruise. My wife has made that one of her destinations for next year.

marjoa,
It will definitely be cold. That's what we want for the Catfishing though! I would love to catch one even HALF the weight of your friends!

ronspradley,
Coopers is pretty good BBQ. I've eaten there when going to my Dad's in Castel. He's got a campground that he runs, right on the river. Small, but fun. Leifeste Campground is the name of it.

Drove by Castel on 29 between Llano and Mason yesterday. Me and the dog are heading to Yuma AZ to visit friends and get warm.
