Lake Lanier Georgia COE Campgrounds Cutbacks

I was online booking for April and noted that Duckett Mill and Bolding Mill Campgrounds were all booked Sun thru Wed. I called to verify and apparently due too cutbacks they are actually closed. I haven't checked any other COE's but thought I'd share.

I have never stayed at a COE that I didn't like. It would be a shame and disgrace to close any of those parks. They are roomy and inexpensive.

Not so cheap any more. Bald Ridge Creek CG on the west side of Lanier is now $32/night. That is a 100% increase since we started camping there in 1992.

The Corp has also "released" some of the Lake Lanier CGs to local entities like counties and towns and now they operate them as community parks. Rees are elevated there too. But I give them credit, so far they have kept them up pretty well.

We stay in COE Parks as much as we can in our travels. A trend that we have noticed is that many parks will close roughly 1/2 the park during the week to reduce operating costs. The whole park is then open on weekends.

Hate to see it, but it certainly is better than closing the entire park permantly.

That is my concern. If you didn't plan ahead it sure would be a problem if you pulled up in the evening mid week and the park was closed. In almost all cases you'd have to unhook to turn around and then find another park.
