Lincoln State Park, Indiana
Boy! Did I stumble onto a gem of a campground. Lincoln State Park, South of I-64 exit XXX in the vicinity of Santa Claus, Indiana, (and associated holiday shopping) and right across from the U.S. Park Service's Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial. But the state park and the Lake Lincoln Campground is fabulous. It is wooded and adjacent to two lakes, with 10 miles of hiking trails. About 150 sites, with most having water and electric. Glad I found it. Here's the nice part -- I'm here in the middle of the week in August, the temperatures are in the 70s and there are just a handful of other tenters and RVers here. In other words ... really quiet!!
By the way .... The Indiana Welcome Centers had a booklet, Indiana Recreation, that has information about all the state parks, nicely organized by region.
