We stayed at the KOA. Given our size we were glad to get one of the "premium" sites between the boat ramp and the lake. My only complaint about the site we had was, although designed as a pull through, the pad was very narrow and the concrete was probably 10" above the ground at exit. There was no way I could have avoided dropping off the edge. I chose to back out instead.

We have not been there, but are planning to go there next month on our way to IL.

There is campground information listed at:
https://www.forestcamping.com/dow/southern/lbl.htm
You can also find other campgrounds in the area on Allstays.

We plan to go West on 79 from Dover and then north on 49 (Woodlands Trace National Scenic Drive) through the park.

If you do a forum search, there are several threads on this area as well.

My wife and I were there about 1 1/2 years ago. We drove through Land Between the Lakes from north to south and spent one night in Piney campground, in the southwest section. Very nice campground and our site was right along the river.
There weren't any problems with the roads, but I believe the max speed limit on the main road through the area is 50 mph. It was a little hilly and winding in areas, but no real issues.
I don't believe there are any private campgrounds actually on land between the lakes.

Fifty mph is plenty fast for a scenic highway. IIRC, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drive are 35. But this sounds like a good adventure on our trip north next month. We are thinking of trying Hillman Ferry near the north end. If we can't get in there will try for something outside the park.

We are also going to try Talladega National Forest, but so far no one has responded to our thread about that area and all of the reviews that I have read are several years old. I am thinking we will probably try to stay at Coleman Lake Campground there.

I would go Western Kentucky Parkway from Elizabethtown to LBL.

We stayed at Hurricane Creek on Lake on Lake Barkley -- a COE campground. Would like to go back, just haven't had the opportunity. It is on the east side of the lake and not in the "between" part.

I found that I never attempted 50 MPH along many stretches of that road. no rush anyway - enjoyed the ride.

a few years ago we stayed at Hillman Ferry. Sites were very large, enough for our MH and toad with plenty of room left over and the ones near us were wooded. I would definitely go back

We were there for the Eclipse in August of last year..

We stayed at Sportsman's Anchor Resort and Marina (Welcome to Sportman's ANCHOR RESORT & MARINA)...

It was "ok"... nothing terribly special.. My only suggestion/recommendation if staying here is to be mindful of where they put you.. We stayed in an EXTREMELY tight spot.. we even had to bypass one of the spots due to low hanging power lines.

I don't want to give it a bad review because the people were extremely friendly and very helpful.. but the campground wasn't anything special and we likely wouldn't go back..

I know this isn't very helpful.. but I at least wanted to give you a warning of sorts, in case you end up there..

Good luck in your search

Some of the replies in this thread don't apply, if you actually want to stay in or on Land Between the Lakes. This link has the info for campgrounds on LBL.https://www.landbetweenthelakes.us/seendo/camping/

+2 on Canal COE. Be aware though that for a Saturday night reservation you'll need to stay Friday as well, according to recreation.gov. We got lucky and got one of the last few remaining "walk up" sites, worth checking into if you're in the area. It is a beautiful, well run campground.
