We're planning on going to the kite festival the week of August 15 at Long Beach, WA. Any suggestions on a nice RV park or campground in that area? I'm thinking of Fort Canby, oops, I mean Cape Disappointment State Park, and then driving up in the toad.

Just returned from Cape Disappointment state
park on Jun 18th. Full service hookup. Great
Park. 2 lighthouses. great shoreline. You can
drive the peninsula. We had a good time. Hope
you can get reservations if you decide to go.
Have fun

Cape Disappointment is probably going to be very hard to get a site in during that week. The NWPUC is having it's annual Summer RoundUp there that same week (we're going) and we had a heckuva time getting all of us into one area! You might try the reservations desk daily to see if anyone has cancelled in the park and then nab it quickly!

The other suggestion I have is to travel over the river into Oregon and stay at Ft. Stevens State Park. Not as nicely laid out as Cape Disappointment (my opinion only) but a great park, lots to see and do and the showers are free there (which they aren't, in WA). It's about a 30 min drive to the Kite Festival in Long Beach from Ft. Stevens but not a bad-traffic one. PLUS...if you like Tillamook dairy products, the Tillamook factory is in Oregon and is a fun place to take the kids!
