Long Key State Park FL - Directions

Hey guys, my Wife and I are headed to Long Key State Park in Florida and hope to be there on Monday 2/24/2014. We are coming from Michigan so will probably take 75 from Atlanta to Florida.

1) We are driving a Class A MH and wondered what route is best suited for us.

The sites are right on the Ocean and would love to pull strait in so our windshield faces the water. This is our 1st time there and were wondering?

2) Is pulling strait in OK room permitting or will we be forced to back in?

3) Has anyone already stayed at this campground? Suggestions for the area?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Jim I can tell you how i go and its a nice easy drive.

Stay on 75 S and exit at Collier Blvd the last exit before paying toll. Go South on Collier until you hit Hwy 41 going East. Stay on 41 until you reach 997 Krone Ave and go South. You will hit Hwy 1 to the keys.
This route takes you through the everglades, lots of Gators on the side of the road to see.
Can't help on your park haven't stayed there.
Have Fun

Eric

Thanks Eric, that route does look simple, I like the no tolls part of it. If we go that way, I hope we don't break down (knock on wood). My Wife has nightmares about Gators (not the football team)!

Haven't stayed at Long Key but mostly it's a question of how long your power cord is. The other thing is to look at your site on Google Earth ... ocean site doesn't always mean ocean view. Regardless, you'll have a great time.

Gators seldom eat people ... only a few each day ... and mostly Yankees

Looks like the route is settled. I looked at the casino on the map, I could see 2 motor homes in the parking lot. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm glad they eat Yankees, we are Tiger fans! Here is our actual site, the view is amazing! We want that view on the big windshield.

We just came the opposite direction as we came back from Key West. Do take 75 and then 41 across the Everglades. Good road and lots of wildlife. Stop at the Casino at 41 and Krome Ave. Lots of free parking plus a good $9.95 steak and lobster special. Get back on Krome Ave (997 S) and follow it straight through to US1. Easy and no turns.

Thanks to everyone for the directions, we spent the night at the Casino. There were more then 10 other RVs in the lot. The ride was great, no gator problems!

Our site is amazing, check out this view!
