Looking for 3 Campgrounds in Alabama Close to Historic sites

My wife and I will be working our way home from Florida in late April/early May. We want to spend 3 weeks in Alabama and would like to spend one week in each of 3 campsites/RV parks. We want the campsites in areas where we can do day trips to the various attractions. We are mostly interested in historic sites. The campgrounds do not need to be fancy as long as they have hookups and room for our rig, 40' DP. In fact the more economical the better because we will be spending little time there. Mostly just a place to park and use as a home base.

We always stay at Gunter Hill when we visit the Montgomery/Selna area. It is a very nice Coe parkwith easy access to both. There is so much about the Civil rights movement, you can easily spend a week.

They have a trade days the 3rd weekend of the month. It will usually get pretty full prior to that weekend. If you come in the first of the week it shouldn't be bad. You can call and they will tell you about availability.

You can PM me and if I'm here I can go over and take a look. I usually go over and walk a lot of mornings when the weather is good.

Go on campgroundreviews.com, type in AL and you will see all your choices, including reviews, and a link to each campgrounds website.

Alabama

Bama has several good COE parks. If you can decide what historical sites you are interested in , check for COE parks nearby. I live near Tannehill and was embarrased to call it a state park when we went there. Gulf Shores State Park(at Gulf Shores) and DeSoto State Park on top of Lookout Mtn. near Fort Payne are nice.DeSoto is close enough to Chattanooga Tn for a day trip and Chatt is very tourist oriented and friendly. Between Desoto and Chatt. in No.Al and Georgia are many important Civil War battle sites.
