Looking for a summer home near water??
I thought this might be a great place to ask for opinions on finding a summer home on a lake or near one. You folks have been all over the states and have seen lots of places. We have a home is Arizona where we spend the winters and RV in the summer. Want to change it up and RV to Arizona in the winter and buy a home on or near a lake. I want to be able to use the boat and bass fish more. My wife doesn't want a "remote" location. If we could find a retirement development on a lake where it doesn't get to hot in the summer that would be great. I know asking for a lot?? Most likely our last move as getting a little older. Appreciate any suggestions you all have.
safe travels

Altitude rather than latitude seems to work better for avoiding the summer heat. Suggest the Flathead Lake area of Montana as a place to start looking--IMHO

I know you said bass but if trout fishing would sub - look at
Home Head waters for Rio Grande river run thru park so you could fish in your front yard. At a minimum spend a week there and explore the possibilities. We were thinking along same lines and found Mountain Views. No need to buy s&b just use RV on both ends. Mountains of southern CO is as close as you will find truely cool weather and Creede is the best place we have found. If trout would sub for bass I can tell you more details about Mountain Views and the amazing community if interested.

The western slope of the Colorado Rockies is a great place to summer. I'd start around Ridgway or Ouray and work out from there. The area isn't cheap, if that is a concern. Plus it's fun to visit to do your homework - so I recommend checking the area out several times!

ctpres, I am very interested in finding a nice trout stream right out my front door. If you could recommend a place, I would appreciate it.

How hot do you consider too hot and what does your wife consider remote?

Picture is view from our campsite. Park owns land to rivers edge. Never heard anyone complain about fishing. Link to park website.

Do you want a house or a RV lot with perhaps a casita or a house with a RV garage attached?

Here is a national secret for lakes and camping.
Muskogee Oklahoma area. Lakes everywhere, huge lakes, tons of parks, cheap. I think many dont know this but eastern Oklahoma is true blood ozarks so you have hills too.
