Looking for an easy route to Cody Wy thinking rt 212/310 from Laurel
Has anyone driven to Cody on 212/310 from Laurel? Going to be heading east on 90 from Glacier. Not real excited about taking either 14 or 16. Any advice will help 40' with tow.
Thank you

We did this route last year when coming from Glacier. It was a nice drive.

Take 90 to 212 to 72 to 120. Easy drive will bring you in the back side of Cody.

Sure, you can find an easy route, but do you really want to pass up what is arguably the mots beautiful scenic drive in the country? Try the Beartooth Hwy. (212) almost to Cooke City. Turn left on Chief Joseph Hwy. (296), then right on 120 and right on 14 into Cody.
Both 212 and 296 will be steep going up, but much less so going down. You would be doing both roads in the easy direction.
I routinely tow my 5th wheel over both of those roads, with not the slightest problem, and I'm a flatlander from Illinois.

Joel,
I think the op should pass on this. The beartooth pass is not a road that an RVer towing wants to navigate. We ride it with our Motorcycles as one of the best bike roads in the country. Yes, it is spectacular, and yes local trucks use it. But it is not for the faint hearted. In addition, it is not even open until late may early June due to the heavy snow.
We are not flatlanders and do a lot of mountain driving and would not recommend it towing

I've towed my 5th wheel over it several times, in both directions. I'll agree that towing over the Beartooth from west to east gets a little tricky with the steep downhill grades. However, from east to west, it is much less steep, and is really a fairly easy tow.
