The weekend we have open is October 3-5, 2014.
There is an Octoberfest in Fredericksburg, Tx that is less than 90 miles away and was going to be PERFECT - until, all campgrounds booked up (we just decided to do this a few days ago).
So, anyone know of something in that area that would be a great first trip for some RV noobies?
Looking for kayaking, hiking, great views, etc...

San Angelo has a couple of parks on the lake if you want to stay close. If you want to make a trip and you're looking for a small (49 spaces) very nice, quiet campground on the river try
Riverway RV Park Llano, TX.
It's located on the Llano river in Llano about 130 miles from San Angelo. Great kayaking, golf package available, plenty of wildlife, ez drive to Austin if you're missing the big city & have a toad, friendly owners, with a very relaxed pace.
If you want to head further north we like htt

on the shores of Lake Leon (also about 130 miles from San Angelo) in Eastland, Texas. It's a larger park and has a limited number of sites on the water. Good fishing, kayaking, golf packages.
Marble Falls is about 160 miles from San Angelo and Lake LBJ is a constant level lake. The "resort" park is
Sunset Point on Lake LBJ - Waterfront RV Spaces - Texas Hill Country - Lodging, Fishing, Boating, Swimming, Camping and it's located on the water's edge. Also, Inks Lake State Park is a popular destination in the same general area
Inks Lake State Park — Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. Typical Texas State Park with some water front spots available.
Good luck with whatever you decide and have a great trip
