Ludington, Michigan ferry crossing

Has anyone crossed Lake Michigan from ludington to Wisconsin with your travel trailer? I have crossed with the ferry before, but am curious if they are careful loading your TT.

Every ferry I've ever been on, here and abroad, allows you to drive your own vehicle(s) on to the vessel. Once you are directed to a spot to park, they will put out chocks to insure no rolling about. Most then require you to go to the passenger decks until you dock at the other end.

RVs are charged $5.95 per foot, one way.

If going from lower Michigan to Wisconsin, it's cheaper and faster than going through Chicago.

I know that the ferry in Ludington drives and parks your vehicle themselves...that is the concern.

I'd imagine they'd be pretty cautious with the way people threaten to sue at the drop of a hat!

In 2012 we took the ferry from Wisconsin to Ludington. We unhooked the toad and the crew drove our then brand new motorhome onto and, later, off the ferry.
We've taken a number of ferries with our rv's in the past and this is the only time the crew has provided this extra service.
Great trip. We were glad to avoid the Chicago traffic.

EZDZIT Were there many Travel trailers making the crossing? It kind of freaks me out thinking I wouldn't be driving it on myself. I know they really pack the cars on.

We seem to remember that there were a number of travel trailers in line with us before the crossing. But actually we can't remember precisely.
You might wish to call the S.S. Badger for current procedures, etc.
