Mackinac Island

We are planning a trip to Mackinac Island in September...we've been there before (no RV). Where do you recommend staying at RV Park...BIL said Petoskey has great park (72/nite) that's ok, but thought there are more closer...thoughts please!!!

I have not stayed at any of these. Just found them on a Google search.

Dunno about RV parks but in that area of MI they're ALL expensive! Great decision on your trip to Mackinac Island. While you're at it, check out Traverse City and Leelanau County. If you like to fish, there's charter boat fishing in Leland, MI and of course there's the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore! A great place to stay in the area is Indigo Bluffs RV Resort in Empire, MI which is close to all the activities. It's a very nice RV park albeit expensive. Reservations are a must!

We stayed at Mackinaw Mill Creek just outside of Mackinaw City. It was easily accessible to drive to the island ferry and a decent park.

Last summer we stayed at Tee Pee campground. Almost walking distance to the Schepler ferries but the shuttle will also pick you up(free)....took our bikes also. Great location for Mackinac island.

We stayed at the casino in St Ignas. They had power, water and a dump site.

When I was there several years ago there was free (or very cheap, don't remember the details) parking available in a lot right across from the ferry landing. No hookups but the solar panels kept my batteries up and the lp kept the fridge cold, all was well when we returned after 2 nights on the island. You might want to check out the ferry companies' websites to see what's available now.

We stayed at the Mackinaw City KOA several years ago in the fall. The grounds were covered with changing and fallen leaves. We enjoyed the campground. I don't remember the amenities, but we usually don't use them anyway.

The free shuttle to the ferry stopped there so we got a tour of the city picking up and dropping off other passengers. They were more than happy to accommodate our young German Shepher, both on the shuttle and on the ferry.

Mackinaw City and St. Ignace are both next to the ferry landing. There's also a state park at Mackinaw City.

Look for options on this site. Just plug in the town.

When we went up there we were camped 2 hours south and decided to get an AirBnB rather than relocate that far north for a weekend. Stayed in an older motel that was being run as an AirBnB in St. Ignace for a short drive to the terminal in the morning. It worked much better for us as we were heading west from there towards Chicago and didn’t want to go over top on the UP.
