We normally do not stay in the "upper financial regions" of the resort scene.
Normally wing it...call around the day before...... If all else fails we have no problem dry camping in a wide spot next to a lake or stream, or even a truckstop or a casino for a night or two.

I wing it. I usually do not have a time constraint on my travel so I tend to drive until I want to take a break or stop to look at something. I have satelite tv programing so I can feel at home about anywhere including rest stops, truck stops, frontage road or an RV park.

It seems from the responses on this thread that there are personalities who prefer a high amount of organization and those who don't. Nothing wrong with either unless they are married to one another I suppose. Hahaha

When we were "small" we would wing it. Now we are "not small" and prefer to know where we're going so not left on side of road for the night. 30' fifth wheel. Depends on where your stopping....if it's popular places, you need a reservation (way ahead of time). If not so popular areas and just an overnight, we usually call ahead that morning.

It's more on how you feel about 'winging' it rather than how big you are or going to a popular place or not.

With our 40' motorhome we've visited Yellowstone Nat'l Park often without reservations. There are even 7 campgrounds that don't accept reservations. The 5 others will have cancellations. That's not the only place we've stayed that's popular and without reservations. Guess we're gutsy!

We always make reservations. We need to know we have a spot for the night.

LOL

I wish I could wing it.........but in my previous life, if I had a nickel for every time I told a subordinate, "If you fail to plan - you plan to fail!" I'd be in one of those Prevost busses.......

I am envious of those free spirited people.........

Maybe an old dog can change.......nah......I like the way I do things!! Hahaha
