Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park Campground

I seen conflicting information on the NPS website and Recreation.gov in terms of whether my 34' 5th wheel will fit there. We have a reservation at this site (site 89). In the details it says that the site is 65' long and max vehicle length is 40'. It says that the site will accommodate a 5th wheel but doesn't list a length. On the NPS website it says "RVs and Trailers are allowed in select campsites, RV max length is 38 feet, Trailer max length is 26 feet." Which one do I believe? Has anyone been there that can tell me if our set up will work? I don't want to get into a sticky situation but I also prefer to stay inside the parks when I can.

I have not been in that CG, but several I've seen across the country have that type of restrictions.

In the campgrounds I have seen, that means any trailer over 26 feet will not have clearance to make the cuts past trees, rocks or such to get to the campsite. Trailers cut closer on corners than two axle RVs almost always.

Also, the campsite width, or obstructions near the road edge, might make it impossible to turn the 5er enough to get into the site or get out without getting hung up.

Sorry to say, but I think you need to find a different CG for this incredible, wonderful, location.

We were there in fall 2021, 32' long 5th, we had a pullthru site, dont remember which one, thought it was in C or D loop, friends had one also they are 34' long also pullthru, we experienced no problems. YMMV

So I just called the campground and the woman seemed to think that we'd be ok. She said it was one of their biggest sites and it's a pull through. It always makes me a little nervous asking someone who doesn't tow; I've been told by more than a few people that I'd have no problem getting into a place but in reality there wasn't even a remote possibility.

Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park Campground

When we were there there were probably a dozen pull through that should easily accommodate 34’

You can see the sites on Google Maps satellite view
