Michigan in July
Planing on spending several weeks in July in a 43' motorhome in Michigan. Any suggestions on campgrounds and things to do?

One that we stay at from time to time during the summer.
Located just south of Big Rapids Michigan at exit 131 on US131 north.
Nice staff, clean sites and lots to do. The pool and club house is VERY nice. The marina on the Muskeegan river is a plus also. Prices are typical for a resort of this stature and they favor newer coach's and 5th wheels (10 yrs. and newer) however I did see some nice restored vintage MH allowed in. Book early.
River Ridge RV Resort | In Stanwood, Michigan
More Options here also - http://www.michigan.org/campgrounds-rv-parks/
Good luck and have fun in my state!

Grand Haven State Park is a great place right in the beach. It's a parking lot park but it's a great location with a very nice downtown area. Sliver Lake area has the dunes....the Petoskey Area is beautiful too. Traverse City area has some great wineries, I guess it all depend on what your looking to do.

Suggest Sunny Brook RV Resort in South Haven ( South Haven Sunny Brook RV Resort: Index). Lots to do: Kal-Haven bike trail; wineries and breweries in the area; Lake Michigan beaches; some very interesting golf courses.
Good luck and have fun,
Larry & Linda...

Consider Sandy Pines in Dorr, Michigan. Huge resort, mostly privately owned but some rentals available. Safe, close to Grand Rapids and the west coast of Michigan, Holland, Saugatuck, etc. are nice places to visit. Hope this helps.

One of my favorites is Sterling State Park by Monroe MI. Now this is a secret!!! Site 81 is the best site. Electric only though. They do have full hook-up also.

There are campgrounds and things to do all over Michigan. From 3 Rivers area to Detroit and port huron (That about covers I-94) from Erie to Sault St. Marie (I-75) from Coldwater to Lansing to Port Huron (I-69)
And north of 3 Rivers (US-131) and of course the Upper part of the state as well.
What part of the state are you interested in.

If you are in the Detroit / Dearborn area, this is a good base. Nothing fancy, but within short driving distance of a lot of attractions.

There's also Detroit/Greenfield CG for the Detroit area.

This used to be a KOA, just a few miles from the Wayne County Fairgrounds. If it matters, they still have the same policy of charging a daily rate for every visitor to your site. In fairness, though, I guess this keeps people from taking advantage of the facilities.

What are you planning on doing in the Chicago Area passing thru or staying for a few days?
A new campground just opened up in Aug 13 just outside of Chicago IL. This is about 35 miles west off of US 30/56 in Big Rock IL and Chicago can be accessed by interstate 88. This is a county park that charges about $25 a day for a site.
